iTunes for Writers

For those of you with iTunes, and especially those who also have an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, check out the latest offering from iTunes University. It’s called “Creative Writing: A Master Class.”  If you have iTunes, you can download the podcasts that go with it –“Authors and Poets.”  If you also have an iPad, iPod Touch, or iPhone, you can download the textbook for the course for free.

Even if you can’t download the book, the interviews are interesting.  In addition, there are a number of other podcasts on writing that are useful.  (Look under podcasts and iTunes U) Some of my favorites are:

Pen on Fire

Poetry Off the Shelf

Poems Out Loud

Essential American Poets

AmericanWriters.com

The Writing Show

Creative Writing – The Open University

These are but a meager selection of all that is available.  Take some time to search through iTunes offerings, and you will certainly find at least one (if not many) that offers advice or inspiration for the type of writing you do, at whatever level you are.

My favorite at the moment is “How I Write.”  Great interviews with all types of writers who talk about their writing process and so much more.
